Accessibility Statement
PurposeBuilt Systems, LLC is committed to making the Digital Traffic Control Diary (DTCD) web dashboard and our marketing site accessible to the broadest possible audience, including people with disabilities. As a service-disabled-veteran-owned small business, accessibility isn't an afterthought — it's part of who we serve.
Conformance target
We target Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across our public marketing site and the authenticated DTCD dashboard. We also work toward Section 508 conformance for federal procurement contexts.
Conformance status
Partial conformance. The dashboard at dashboard.purposebuilt.systems meets most WCAG 2.1 AA criteria; specific known limitations are listed below. We do not yet have a third-party VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template); if you need one for a procurement review, contact us and we will commission an audit.
What works well
- Keyboard navigation across all interactive elements (tabs, forms, modals, dropdowns)
- Visible focus indicators on every focusable control
- Sign-in works with screen readers (Apple, Google, and email/password flows)
- Color contrast meets WCAG AA in both light and dark themes (orange brand text uses a darker variant on light backgrounds)
- System-font stack — no third-party font dependency, respects user font-size preferences
- Dark mode toggle (sun/moon icon, top right) honors your OS preference on first visit and persists your choice
- All icon-only buttons have screen-reader labels
- Form fields have visible labels
- Modals are focus-trapped and dismissible via Escape
- Charts have a hidden tabular equivalent so screen-reader users can read the underlying data
Known limitations
- Interactive map (Leaflet): the map's visual markers are accompanied by a screen-reader-friendly closure list to the left of the map, but the underlying Leaflet map controls are not fully keyboard-navigable. Use the sidebar list to browse closures.
- PDF plan overlays: the in-app PDF viewer (used to overlay traffic-control plans on the map) does not currently expose text alternatives for the plan content. Underlying PDFs are downloadable; we recommend a dedicated screen reader (e.g. NVDA + PDF reader) for plan content review.
- Aerial imagery overlays: drone aerial overlays are visual-only and do not have text alternatives describing their content.
- Charts: data visualizations in the Admin dashboard render as SVG with a visually-hidden HTML table fallback. Some screen readers may require explicit navigation into the table to read the data.
Assistive technologies we test against
- VoiceOver on macOS (Safari) and iOS (Safari)
- NVDA on Windows (Chrome and Firefox)
- Keyboard-only navigation
- 200% browser zoom
- OS-level high-contrast mode (limited)
