Security & Data Integrity — DRU
Your As-Builts, Your System of Record
Digital ROW Utilities (DRU) captures utility points, lines and photos with documented methods and reported uncertainty, browses public GIS reference data, and exports reviewable records.
ASCE-Oriented Records
Reviewable Data and Evidence
ASCE-oriented validation
ASCE-oriented fields and validation support review. A complete form, signature or hash does not independently establish compliance, a utility quality level, survey accuracy or a professional credential.
Quality Level, carried end to end
Every feature carries its SUE quality level (QL-A through QL-D) and positional accuracy, from capture through export, so reviewers can assess the stated quality against its supporting evidence.
Review field mapping before publishing
Map DRU's fields onto your own GIS layer however you like — the mapping editor warns whenever a mandatory ASCE attribute has no home, so the reviewer can identify missing fields before publishing.
Capture Provenance
GNSS fix provenance
Location records retain the observed method and reported uncertainty. External GNSS and corrections depend on the installed build and compatible receiver. An NTRIP connection does not establish a corrected phone position or an RTK fix.
SHA-256 export provenance
Supported deliverable packages carry a manifest with a SHA-256 hash of each file, a quality-level breakdown, and GNSS-provenance coverage — a cryptographic fingerprint of exactly what was submitted.
Your Data Stays Yours
Publish with your own permissions
Where GIS publishing is enabled in the installed build, use your authorized destination and credentials, review field mapping and queued changes, then reconcile the result with the receiving system.
Credentials stored in Keychain
GIS and agency credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain and used to authenticate to the destination you configure. Authentication sends the necessary credentials to that authorized service; there is no shared write key.
AES-GCM encryption option
Sensitive infrastructure data can be encrypted with authenticated AES-GCM for storage and transfer.
Offline by Design
Saved captures and bundled catalog metadata are available offline. Fresh public GIS queries, online map imagery, sharing and publishing need a connection; prepare supported offline maps before fieldwork.
Reference Data, Honestly Labeled
DRU ships a catalog of tens of thousands of public utility map services so a crew can see what may be underground nearby. This is reference data: coverage, licensing, attributes and update cadence vary by the publishing agency, and it is never a substitute for One-Call / 811 notification or the utility locating required by law. Service-territory layers show which provider serves an area — a boundary, not an asset location.
ASCE-oriented fields and validation support review. A complete form, signature or hash does not independently establish compliance, a utility quality level, survey accuracy or a professional credential.
The national GIS expansion and Reference filter require a new iOS release. Android 0.3.0 is a development build with partial features and no WFS registry UI.

DRU is decision-support for qualified professionals. AI-assisted detection, plan-sheet extraction, and the public reference catalog are aids to a trained operator's judgment — verify all output against field conditions and statutory locating requirements before relying on it.
