What Indiana requires

From the specification

INDOT GIFE Section 2.8: CWTS "is required to keep a daily record of the total number and location of signs displayed, using the roadway reference system, the area where each worksite speed limit is established, and the times they are established." GIFE references Section 801 as the underlying spec basis.

How solid is this? Binding language has been identified for Indiana, with page-level verification of the source document still outstanding. Treat the citation as a strong lead rather than a settled quotation, and check it against your contract documents.

How DTCD satisfies it

Daily Entries + Smart Photo Capture produce the daily record CWTS is required to keep per INDOT GIFE Section 2.8 (referencing Section 801 of Standard Specifications). Certification Management tracks INDOT-approved CWTS certification. Personnel Tracking documents CWTS presence.

What DTCD adds beyond the requirement

On federal-aid work, 23 CFR 630 Subparts J and K apply whatever Indiana specifies, with a compliance date of December 31, 2026 — the federal floor, explained. And after an incident the questions come from the incident, not the specification: 105 published judicial matters on that.

DTCD produces this record from the drive-through itself, and names the controlling Indiana requirement on the generated PDF. Open a sample before deciding anything.

Filing a work-zone request in Indiana?

Draw the closure on a map and the builder reads the route, mileposts and county from Indiana’s own public GIS, checks bridge clearance on the route and the detour, and exports a WZDx feature, a PDF or an email. It runs in the browser — nothing is submitted or stored.

What changes at the Indiana state line

Crews rarely work one state, and the record a neighbouring DOT expects is often named differently and cited somewhere else entirely. Here is how the states bordering Indiana compare:
