What Alabama requires

Documented requirement

ALDOT's Construction Manual requires the Department's Project Traffic Control Inspector to document each work-zone inspection on Form C-25, Daily Inspection of Traffic Control Devices; Standard Specifications Section 740 requires the contractor to designate a responsible traffic-control employee with training certified under 23 CFR 630 Subpart J.

How solid is this? Alabama is documented from a high-confidence agency source, linked above, but we have not yet verified contract-binding specification language the way we have for the states in the full analysis. What governs your job is your contract and its special provisions — check them. This page is a stub until that verification is done, and it is deliberately excluded from search results so it cannot pass itself off as more than it is.

On federal-aid work, 23 CFR 630 Subparts J and K apply whatever Alabama specifies, with a compliance date of December 31, 2026 — the federal floor, explained. And after an incident the questions come from the incident, not the specification: 105 published judicial matters on that.

DTCD produces this record from the drive-through itself, and names the controlling Alabama requirement on the generated PDF. Open a sample before deciding anything.

Filing a work-zone request in Alabama?

Draw the closure on a map and the builder reads the route, mileposts and county from Alabama’s own public GIS, checks bridge clearance on the route and the detour, and exports a WZDx feature, a PDF or an email. It runs in the browser — nothing is submitted or stored.

What changes at the Alabama state line

Crews rarely work one state, and the record a neighbouring DOT expects is often named differently and cited somewhere else entirely. Here is how the states bordering Alabama compare:
