What Missouri requires

Documented requirement

MoDOT EPG Section 616 inspection guidance references the MoDOT Temporary Traffic Control Inspection Worksheet and frequent/night inspection of work zones.

What we checked, and what we found. We read MoDOT 2026 Standard Specifications (July) and found no provision requiring a daily traffic-control diary, log or inspection report in the temporary traffic control sections. That is a finding, not a gap in our research: in this state the documentation obligation appears to sit in agency manuals, forms and project special provisions rather than in the standard specifications. Check your contract's special provisions, which control.

How we know: Full-text search of MoDOT 2026 Standard Specifications (July), covering the temporary traffic control sections. Re-searched 2026-09-05 with a corrected pattern that also matches verb forms (“Inspect … daily”, “Record inspections”); still no provision found. Verified 2026-09-05.

On federal-aid work, 23 CFR 630 Subparts J and K apply whatever Missouri specifies, with a compliance date of December 31, 2026 — the federal floor, explained. And after an incident the questions come from the incident, not the specification: 105 published judicial matters on that.

DTCD produces this record from the drive-through itself, and names the controlling Missouri requirement on the generated PDF. Open a sample before deciding anything.

Filing a work-zone request in Missouri?

Draw the closure on a map and the builder reads the route, mileposts and county from Missouri’s own public GIS, checks bridge clearance on the route and the detour, and exports a WZDx feature, a PDF or an email. It runs in the browser — nothing is submitted or stored.
